Pride House 2012 during the London Olympics:

  • Pride House 2012 was a place: CA House on Limehouse Basin from 3 to 7 and 12 August.
  • Pride House 2012 was a festival with events at CA House and throughout London from 3 to 12 August.

Thanks to the partners in Pride House 2012, the many volunteers, and our hundreds of visitors to Pride House and participants in the Pride House Festival, and special thanks to Lou Englefield and Pride Sports, without whom Pride House 2012 would not have existed!

Who are the LGBT Paralympic athletes, coaches and support staff?
The partners in Pride House 2012 and many others will continue to promote LGBT visibility at international sports events
and in particular at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia!

Pride House 2012 will celebrate sport for all while bringing together all members and friends of the worldwide LGBT community to view live screenings of London 2012 events and discuss relevant LGBT and sports-related topics, with exhibits, photos, and videos celebrating LGBT sport. The varied programme will also include live music from London LGBT music groups, receptions, two sports days, and more.

Featured in Pride House 2012 will be an exhibition provided courtesy the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation entitled Against the Rules.

My visit to Pride House during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics was a major influence on my public coming out, and the support I received after doing so was overwhelming. Yet, there is still a lack of LGBT based role-models in sport. I believe it is important for everyone, and especially young people, to see that no matter whom you are or where you come from, you can still succeed and reach your highest levels. The legacy from Pride House 2012 for future Olympic Games will make a difference!
